The enclosed record is the second release by
the band Vannevar. Prayers to the Patron
Saint of Surf Metal was recorded at home in
the shotgun attic space that has become our
studio. It was the dead of Summer 2012 and
nightmares began to swallow dreams. The
heat was on and our heroes found themselves
trapped on all sides with nothing but a 1/4"
tape machine and a self-imposed deadline to
produce what they could only hope would
capture the spirit of a North Carolina rock'n'roll
band, independent in every sense of the word.
The music was recorded live by the band over
two weekends, and final overdubs took place
hours before fate and necessity scattered the
band to various corners of the continent. The
music on this EP was recorded onto four tracks with zero edits and lathed into 10" records. These recordings have
experienced absolutely no contact with the digitized world and, if we have succeeded, will have captured the spirit of
this band at this time with an energy and honesty that would not have been possible otherwise. Happy Listening.
